Bring It On: The Musical

When you mix Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jeff Whitty and cheerleaders together, there’s no way I’m not going to go and see it. There’s just absolutely no way. And, unsurprisingly, it was fucking great.

Bring It On: The Musical unfortunately only had quite a short run at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne, otherwise I probably would have gone to see it again. Every aspect of it impressed me to no end – the music was great, it was hilariously witty and sassy, Nadia Komazec as Campbell was a perfect mix of adorable and bad-arse (and I cannot wait to see her in Rocky Horror soon!), and the little girl sitting next to me who got tickets for her 9th birthday told me after it was over, “soon I’m going to be on a stage like that singing in a musical!” and it just melted my heart.

This show was captivating. I was sitting in the second row of the dress circle, and it gave me the most amazing view of the entire stage, which was necessary since there was always SO MUCH going on! This blurb from their website sums it up better than I ever could:

With a colourful assortment of characters, an exciting fresh sound and explosive choreography with aerial stunts, this hilarious, universal story is sure to be everything that you hoped for and nothing like you expected.

I don’t know what else to say about it. It was just really cute and fun and sassy, please go and see it if you get the chance so I can gush over it some more with you.

Glad you enjoyed the musical! I love musicals and seeing them live is always amazing. Bring It On sounds like a really fun one to see too!

Hope you enjoy Rocky Horror! I’ve been to see it so many times and it’s always hilarious. I love the audience participation and the costumes!

Also, speaking of Lin-Manuel Miranda, I NEED to see Hamilton live. The songs are just the best and I’m forever crying listening to Satisfied. It’s just so brilliant. I’m hoping they tour it round the UK soon!

    Glad you had fun!

It was great! If you get the chance to see it, I’d highly recommend it.

I’ve seen Rocky Horror once before, a few years ago, and absolutely loved it so I’m really excited to see it again!

Unpopular opinion – I’m not a Hamilton fan. I’ve tried to get into it, but I just can’t. I’ll still probably go and see it one day, I really do want to love it… haha!

Honestly, I was skeptical about this show. I am not a huge fan of musicals based on movies like Mean Girls. But your review to Bring it On made me think differently about it.
Glad you got to see it!

Who doesn’t love Lin Manuel, right?!?!!!
